Food insecurity is a significant issue in Canada, affecting millions of people across the country. According to a report by Food Banks Canada, approximately 1 in 8 households in Canada struggle to put food on the table, with over 5 million people experiencing food insecurity.

Food insecurity can be caused by a variety of factors, including low income, unemployment, high housing costs, and health issues. It disproportionately affects marginalized groups such as Indigenous peoples, single-parent households, and those living with disabilities.

Food banks play a crucial role in addressing food insecurity in Canada, providing emergency food assistance to those in need.

  • Are my donations tax deductible?

    Care Shield Food Bank is currently registered as a non-profit organization. While we do email you a receipt for your donations, they cannot be used for personal tax purposes until we achieve charitable status which we are actively pursuing. Donations through corporations can be deducted as marketing or donation expenses. Please consult your corporate accountant for details.

  • Can I donate in a currency other than CAD?

    We accept online donations from all around the world. Your credit card will be charged in your local currency and converted into Canadian dollars.

  • How do I manage recurring monthly donations?

    If you’d like to make a change to any recurring monthly donations, please contact support@csfoodbank.com

  • Can I donate food products?

    To donate food products, please contact support@csfoodbank.com to inquire as to which products are most needed at this time.

  • What administration costs does Care Shield Food Bank incur?

    Care Shield Food Bank operates on a grassroots level through the generous support of volunteers. As such we do not incur expensive administrative costs such as salaries, rent, or marketing. The expenses we do incur are minor and include things like banking fees and sometimes fees associated with the delivery of food products. We strive to maintain as close to a 100% donation policy as possible to ensure every dollar you donate goes to those that need it most.
